Arya is among the most popular baby names in England. People are naming their children Arya and Tyrion. Can you name your child after your favourite TV character? Which character would it be?
Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark is strong, smart, kick-ass assassin and feisty. Little wonder she is one of the most popular baby names in England.
According to a report by BBC, more than 300 girls born in England and Wales in 2016, were named after the ‘girl that has no name.’
The report states that there were more Aryas (302) than Marys (204) or Catherines (163).
Other popular “Game of Thrones” inspired baby names include Khaleesi (69), Tyrion (11), Sansa (5), and Daenerys (4).
The above characters have often been associated with kindness, strength and wisdom, it is therefore not surprising that Joffrey, Littlefinger and Euron Greyjoy didn’t make the list.
The last time viewers saw Arya, she was having a heartfelt conversation with Sansa after the two orchestrated the death of the manipulative Littlefinger.
Other baby names inspired by characters and figures from movies and TV series include Loki of “Thor,” Kal-El of “Superman” and Thor.
